Departmental Clubs : Each department is granted a club budget that is based on the number of graduate students in that department.
Special Interest and International Clubs : These clubs allow groups of students who share common interests to carry out activities as o rganized bodies for educational or recreational purposes.
Senate and Committee Agendas
The GSA Senate functions to provide a representative basis from all GSA clubs to carry out all GSA operations. This is done in several ways. One is by the formation and election of the Executive Staff. The other is the formation of c ommittees. The Executive Staff provides day-to-day operational functions of the GSA and committees research and give guidance and policy on finance, childcare scholarship, elections and advocacy.
The Senate membership is elected from each department and international clubs for a total of over 100 Senators. The monthly Senate meeting is the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. in Room 330 Student Union on North Campus. From time to time an alternate location on South Campus or Roswell Park will be the meeting site. Future changes as to location will be announced.
Senate meetings are designed to be short and efficient. We will summarize important reports into one Executive Summary and discussion on issues will be timed. If we cannot resolve the issue in a reasonable time then a quorum will be formed. The quo rum will then resolve the issue and report back to the Senate at the next meeting.
